Community Solutions of Central Oregon provides professional, accessible, cost-effective services to all clients. Our Mediation Service Fees policy establishes the rationale used to determine our costs to provide mediation, and the resulting fees to be paid by clients for our services.
We emphasize two principles that make up the foundation upon which our fee policy and practices are devised. These include the fact that we (a) are a non-discriminatory organization committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment to our clients, and (b) that we believe everyone has the right to receive our services regardless of their individual ability to pay.
Our service pricing model is based on a standard mediation service fee per hour of $125. Clients agreeing to mediation are required to pay an up-front, two-hour service commitment, or $250 prior to the commencement of service. Following the initial two-hours of service, a reduced mediation service fee of $99 per hour is applied for continued time or reconvened mediation sessions. Clients can also be charged a partial mediation service fee of $45 per half-hour or portion thereof, dependent upon the circumstances of each individual case.
Clients who agree to take advantage of our mediation services have two primary financial obligations. These include that they (a) pay the up-front, two-hour service commitment fee of $250, and (b) pay any remaining fee balance for additional mediation services, as determined by the half-hour/hour or for follow-on mediation sessions needed. Fee payments can be made at our office, over the phone, or via secure webmail. We accept several forms of payment to include cash, check, or credit card.
Community Solutions recognizes that not everyone will have the resources necessary to pay our standard, reduced, or partial mediation service fees. Parties to a dispute are encouraged to split the cost for mediation to share the obligation of payment for our services. In cases where one or both parties are experiencing levels of legitimate financial hardship, our staff is authorized to apply our Sliding Scale for Fee Reduction, with the intent of charging a most-appropriate fee for all involved. In cases in which payment of any fee for service would result in depriving a client or their dependents necessities for food, clothing, or shelter, our staff is additionally authorized to apply a Fee Elimination Decision, with the intent of freeing such clients from any financial obligation to pay for mediation. Under such circumstances, a nominal donation will be requested of the client as an alternative at time of service. Whatever amount a client can pay will be accepted.
Community Solutions retains the following rights as a provider of mediation services, including the right (a) to refuse mediation service to anyone due to circumstances deemed inappropriate, (b) to charge an added, to be determined administrative fee for returned checks, above the original mediation service fee, and (c) to research all claims of financial hardship made by prospective clients by requesting pay stubs, proof of government assistance, contacting reported employers, or other such actions deemed appropriate to validate the claim.
